I had an exciting change of pace last weekend when I was given the chance to shoot a three day martial arts conference. Multiple schools were represented and had the chance to show their best performers, explain training methods and exhibit self defense techniques. Below are some of the highlights from the event.
The different groups gave demonstrations on strength training.
They do these exercises so that they can do things like this….
So that no one can do this to them…
In the midst of the pain and violence, I saw something pretty. The uniform details were really nice. As tough as these guys are, they take their uniforms seriously.
Halfway through the conference, there was a service to honor those heroes that gave their lives in the 9/11 attacks.
After group performances, some of the individual stand outs got a chance to perform on their own. These athletes are the picture of strength and flexibility.
Of course, in the middle of all of this seriousness a local dog came to check out all the excitement. He quickly became the unofficial mascot.
As soon as he was ushered off the field, given lots of love, and a few scraps, the performances resumed.
In the end, everyone performed well and there was even a final moment to sit back and enjoy the weekend. Thanks to everyone involved. I enjoyed meeting some amazing athletes and was astounded at all of the systems. What a great weekend!
